Meet Our Wish Kids

Not only did Danny get his wish – to meet “American Idol” Kelly Clarkson – but he was able to attend a concert to watch her perform. Prior to the concert Danny and his family met Kelly at her hotel. She was immediately impressed by Danny when he presented her with a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses (the official flower of Texas, Kelly's home state). The attached card said, “I'm glad I didn't have to wait a lifetime for a moment like this.” (“A Moment Like This” is the title of one of Kelly's songs.) Clearly taken with her fan, Kelly commented that she had not received flowers from a boy in a very long time. She gave CDs and autographed posters to Danny and posed for pictures with Danny saying she wanted to do some serious ones and also wanted them to rock out. So, Danny, mom, dad, and Kelly made believe they were playing air guitars as they made silly faces. It really was amazing how well Kelly interacted with Danny, and he was in awe.

At the concert, Danny got some souvenirs and settled in. After Kelly's first song, she said, “Hello NYC…I want to send a special shout out to my special friend Danny – hope you are having a good time.” Danny went crazy and screamed at the top of his lungs.   In the limousine ride home, you couldn't have wiped the smile off Danny's face if you tried. “This was the best day in my whole life,” he said.
