Meet Our Wish Kids

At 11, Steven was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, and at 13, he was given the opportunity to wish for anything his heart desired.   The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Steven's heartfelt wish to have a new bedroom developed and decorated around his drum set – a very important item in his life.

Steven's wish was the Foundation's very special 2,500 th wish granted, and that made it extra-meaningful for everyone.   His bedroom makeover was from top to bottom - from paint, to furniture, to bedding and accessories. “It was the room of my dreams,” he said.   “It was incredible to be able to have just what I dreamed of.”

Now 21, Steven will graduate from St. John's University in May, 2005 with a degree in television and film production.   He also recently began working in the field as a teleprompter operator for a cable television station.   Steven chooses to continue playing a role in helping to make other kids dreams come true by attending Make-A-Wish events and telling his story to touch hearts.   At the Make-A-Wish Gala in 2004, Steven played drums on-stage with members of famous bands.   “This is a great organization that cares about kids even long after they have helped them.   What they do really means a lot to kids,” he said.

that there are more than 700 volunteers involved in virtually every aspect of the Foundation's operations, from wish granting to office operations, from fund raising to speaking engagements.
