Meet Our Wish Kids

Corey wished to go on a Hawaiian cruise.

Corey had never been on an airplane before, and he really wanted to ask for a travel wish. He had dreams of snorkeling, jet-skiing, and lying under the shade of a tall palm tree, so Corey envisioned a fun-filled cruise to Hawaii. His wish is not typical for teenagers… but Cory is no typical 14-year-old. He listens to the Beatles, enjoys drawing cartoons, and loves watching cooking shows. In fact, his mom says he’s an awesome cook, and that he helps prepare dinner every night.

Since no Make-A-Wish experience would be complete without a personal touch for each child, the Make-A-Wish Foundation arranged for Corey to meet the cruise ship’s executive chef. He toured the galley, ate dinner with the Captain, watched chocolate sculpting in the kitchen, and “steered” the ship from the control room. Corey’s favorite part of Hawaii was the rain forest on the island of Kauai. With excitement in his voice he said, “Do you know what kind of birds we heard in the rain forest? Roosters and chickens! They run wild there. Did you know that?” he said with a laugh.

Corey and his family rode in a submarine and snorkeled off the beaches of Maui. They also did some shopping, and sent tropical flowers back to Corey’s wish granters at home. His mom said, “We wanted our Make-A-Wish family to share in the beauty that they showed us.”
