Meet Our Wish Kids

At 11, the Make-A-Wish Foundation entered Michelle's life to help ease her burden as she struggled to battle cancer.   She wished she could meet the cast of her favorite television show, “Full House.”

Her wish day began in a white stretch limousine, and first-class, celebrity treatment on her plane.   “My brother and I sat in first-class because there were two extra seats and we got special treatment all the way to California,” said Michelle.   During her VIP tour of Warner Brothers Studios, Michelle encountered famous actors, and watched as Superman's double performed some stunts.   At every turn, she was more and more impressed.   She then headed for the set where her wish would take its true shape.   Michelle was enthusiastically received by every cast member, she watched as they filmed an episode, and toured backstage with her favorite actress.   “We sat in her dressing room and talked for what felt like hours.   It was like we were old friends.   That was the best part.   I felt really lucky.”

Michelle also had a few more days of fun in California at some theme parks, complete with front row seats to shows, and no lines to wait on. “For the whole week, I felt like a celebrity myself.”

This spring, Michelle will graduate from Loyola College with a degree in communications and marketing.   She now advocates the wonder of a wish-come-true for seriously ill children and their families by telling the story of her own dream-come-true at Make-A-Wish events and fundraisers.
